The Fesenkov Astrophysical Institute team warmly congratulates Inna Reva on receiving a NASA Certificate of Honor for her invaluable contribution to the optical tracking of the DART mission, aimed at changing the orbit of the asteroid Dimorphos. This mission had an important practical purpose in testing technology for changing the orbits of asteroids and comets, which pose a significant hazard to Earth. Inna Reva is a professional observer at our institute. We wish her further exciting scientific discoveries and good health.
Kazakhstan Showcased Its Achievements in the Space Sector in Vienna

Vienna, 10 February 2026 – The delegation of Kazakhstan took part in the 63rd session of the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (STSC COPUOS).
During the session, Director of the Fesenkov Astrophysical Institute, Chingis Omarov delivered a presentation on Kazakhstan's current scientific and technical achievements in the field of space situational awareness (SSA), and presented promising areas of cooperation in the field of near-Earth space monitoring and ensuring the safety of space activities.

A Memorandum of Cooperation in Computational Astrophysics was signed between the Fesenkov Astrophysical Institute and the Institute of Astronomy and Information Science at Dali University (China). The main goal of the Memorandum is to establish a joint international laboratory, the "Dali-Almaty International Joint Laboratory for Astronomy and Supercomputing," which other participants can join to conduct joint research and share computing resources.

November 18, 2025.
From November 11–13, 2025, the 7th Middle East and Africa Regional IAU Meeting (MEARIM7), titled “Advancing Space and Astronomy Sciences for a Sustainable Future,” was held in Amman, Jordan under the auspices of the International Astronomical Union. FAI was represented at the conference by Ch.T. Omarov, M.A. Krugov, and others. During the meeting, a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of astronomy and astrophysics was concluded between the Fesenkov Astrophysical Institute and the University of Jordan.
