International forum “Space Days Kazakhstan 2025” dedicated to the exploration and study of near-Earth space was held in Almaty on September 8-9, 2025. More than 700 people from 50 countries took part in the forum. One of the organizers was Fesenkov Astrophysical Institute. After the forum excursion to the Academican Omarov Assy-Turgen observatory was conducted for participants.
During the Forum, the Fesenkov Astrophysical Institute (hereinafter referred to as FAI) held the following events:
1) Workshop “International Cooperation in Space Situational Awareness”.
The Workshop was attended by FAI employees, representatives of the organization with which FAI actively cooperates in the field of space situational awareness – the European company ArianeGroup, and representatives of organizations with which FAI plans to cooperate in the near future – the Indian company Digantara-Space tech co. and the Polish company Sybilla Technologies.
2) Panel session “International Astronomical Hub based on the Academician Tuken Omarov Assy-Turgen Observatory”.
The Panel Session was attended by both FAI employees and representatives of organizations with which FAI actively cooperates in the field of astrophysical research:
– Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences;
– Simply Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain);
– Nazarbayev University (Kazakhstan);
– Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (Kazakhstan).
Both of the above-mentioned events were dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Fesenkov Astrophysical Institute.
Also, within the framework of the International Forum “Space Days in Kazakhstan – 2025” on September 10, 2025, the FAI organized an excursion to the Academician Tuken Omarov Assy-Turgen Observatory, which was attended by representatives of France (ArianeGroup), England (Square Kilometre Array), Turkey, Japan, China, Luxembourg. Representatives of a number of Kazakhstani companies and organizations also took part in the excursion to the Assy-Turgen Observatory. The guests were told about the research carried out at the Assy-Turgen Observatory and the prospects for its development.
