On June 18, 2018, we have a seminar by Prof. Anatoly S. Miroshnichenko (University of North Carolina at Greensboro, USA) who will talk about new results in studying the Be and B[e] phenomenon.

An international team of astrophysicists that includes a researcher from Fesenkov Astrophysical Institute has solved the mystery of the powerful outburst in CTA-102 blazar observed in December, 2016. The results are published in the journal Nature.

On 4th of December we have a seminar "Cosmic gamma ray bursts, what's new: GRB 160625B - most luminous, GRB 170817A - first GRB associated with binary neutron star merger". The talk will be given by Pozanenko A.S., the head of the laboratory at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

For the first time a merger of two neutron stars was registered in two independent channels - via gravitational waves and in electromagnetic spectra. Our institute also took part in observing this grandiose event in optic.

On July 27, 2017 a media tour to Assy-Turgen observatory was organized, with more than 30 journalists participating. The tour aimed at acquainting the public with the observatory and its telescopes, including AZT-20, the largest telescope in Kazakhstan that was recently put into operation.
